According
to CleanLink, an international on-line information resource management portal,
for sanitary supply distributors, building service contractors, and in-house
cleaning professionals. Schools in the Southern District of Michigan, sent
students home with the flu. This widespread flu epidemic caused doors to close
for days, during the last week of October 2018.
The
Center of Disease Control is increasing its campaign to evoke citizens to take
the flu shot this year. Assuming this season may be the deadliest flu season
ever.
News
reported by WWJ News Radio 950, also conveyed that the spread of flu germs, was
caused by teachers spreading it to students. Seemingly, reports also convey, that
20 percent of the school population was home with the flu, due to this outbreak.
In,
Shreveport, LA, a similar outbreak occurred, evoking a 15 percent absenteeism,
among teachers and students.
One
way for schools to combat the spread of the flu virus, is offering flu shoots
on site. This can be done by sending permission slips home with students, so
parents can sign them, and those students can receive flu shots from the
on-staff nurse. If on-staff nurses aren’t on campus; schools should partner
with local health departments and hospitals, to designate a day of the week,
when shots can be administered to those students, whose parents condone such
shots be provided.
Furthermore,
teachers should take an active role in protecting themselves from being victims
of the flu. This should involve washing their hands, and keeping hand sanitizer
in their classrooms, so students can utilize the sanitation substance
regularly.
